TEMPE, Ariz. (Sept. 22, 2009) — CEA Global Education has been announced as the winner of the first annual ADEC/PCFR Arizona Excellence in International Business Award, sponsored by the Arizona District Export Council (ADEC) and the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations (PCFR). The announcement was made today at the sixth annual State of the State Address by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.

“As a globally minded company with a strong community presence, CEA is honored to receive the ADEC/PCFR Arizona Excellence in International Business Award,” said Brian J. Boubek, CEA Chairman and CEO. “We have grown to become a leading provider of innovative global education programs, and it is deeply rewarding to receive recognition for this achievement.”

According to the award criteria, CEA was selected as an Arizona company that has distinguished itself by strong sales growth; research and development collaboration with overseas partners; job creation as a result of international activities; and other measures of global success. Nominees were small- to medium-sized companies, with 500 employees or less, that continue to prosper and expand internationally in spite of the economic downturn. “Arizona’s friendly business environment and entrepreneurial spirit has enabled CEA to attain a higher level of success than where we started back in the Midwest,” said Mr. Boubek.

CEA was chosen based on its significant contribution to ensuring that the U.S. sustains its competitive advantage in the global economy — by helping more than 20,000 students study abroad since the company’s founding in 1997. CEA’s growth strategy has allowed it to achieve year-over-year sales growth despite economic challenges and rapidly changing market trends. In addition, the company’s partnerships with educational institutions that are committed to providing high-quality academics as well as its emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation set CEA apart from its competitors.
