As the Academic Director of Spain Programs & Associate Academic Dean in Barcelona, Richard Evans ensures that academic policies and procedures are followed and provides support to the faculty to ensure academic program integrity. More specifically, Mr. Evans schedules courses, holds regular faculty meetings, manages student and faculty grievances, and oversees the day-to-day academic activities of the Barcelona programs.
Mr. Evans has 12 years of education experience as an instructor, translator, study abroad project manager and most recently, Academic Director. Prior to joining CEA, Richard served as the Academic Advisor for another U.S. study abroad program in Barcelona. Mr. Evans also has extensive academic and international professional experience through his service for the Catalan Government’s Ministry of Universities in the setting up of the International Graduate School of Catalonia, where he went on to work as Communications Project Manager. He has also taught in the United Kingdom, Spain and at Moscow’s State University and was co-founder of a translation agency in the UK.
Mr. Evans earned his M.A. in Literary Translation from the School of European Languages at University of Wales and holds a Joint honors B.A. degree in Spanish and Catalan from the University of Wales Swansea (Wales). He speaks English, Welsh, Catalan and Spanish fluently and has a working knowledge of Russian, French, Italian and Portuguese. Mr. Evans is a member of the European Associate for International Education (EAIE).
