Alicia de la Peña
Assistant Dean
Alicia de la Peña is CEA's Assistant Dean for Madrid. She ensures that academic policies and procedures are followed and provides support to the faculty to ensure academic program integrity. More specifically, Ms. de la Peña makes recommendations for faculty appointments, helps scheduling courses, holds regular faculty meetings, manages student and faculty grievances, recommends curriculum updates, and oversees the day-to-day academic activities of the Madrid programs.
Ms. de la Peña has been a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language for 11 years, working for universities such as Antonio de Nebrija (Madrid-Spain) and Carlos III (Madrid-Spain). She has taught several courses in grammar, gender studies, and business to students from all over Europe and the U.S. Being so closely involved in the Spanish university, she has participated in several congresses and has published a number of articles related to the teaching of foreign languages. She is also an online tutor for the online Masters for the Teaching of Spanish as a Second Language at Antonio de Nebrija University. Ms. de la Peña’s work experience has also developed outside the realm of academics and education. In addition to translating a number of books, she has been collaborating with the American section of the Office of Defense Cooperation (Madrid) for 8 years as a translator of legal and military documents.
Ms. de la Peña holds a M.A. in the Teaching of Spanish as a Second Language from Antonio de Nebrija University (Madrid-Spain) and a B.A. in English Philology from Autónoma de Madrid University (Madrid-Spain). She speaks Spanish and English fluently and has experience with French.
