Dave Brown
Director of Tax
As head of worldwide taxes at CEA, Dave Brown is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a tax strategy for each country in which the company and its affiliates undertakes, (or will undertake), business. He works with CEA leadership, worldwide management and staff, and tax professionals, to ensure that we make the best decisions and meet the legislative requirement of individual countries tax regimes’.
Mr. Brown has 40 years of experience in worldwide taxes and the education sector. He has provided tax advice to a multitude of clients, including companies with exceptional potential such as CEA, and many, many household names in most sectors. Over those 40 years Dave has provided tax advice in relation to 100+ foreign tax regimes.
In a career of over 40 years of work, CEA is only Mr. Brown’s third employer. He first of all worked for the UK Government, rising to Senior Tax Auditor, leading a team managing the indirect taxes of multinational companies. He was also instrumental in devising methodologies and strategies for the management of such company’s tax audits. Mr. Brown later worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London where he rose to lead PwC’s middle market indirect tax department. In 2000, Mr. Brown moved to the US where he set up and led PwC’s US Indirect Tax business. It was at this time, as a PwC advisor, that Mr. Brown first met with CEA. He made his first retirement farewell, leaving PwC, in 2006, and joined CEA, in 2008.
Mr. Brown was born, raised and educated in Wales, UK, but spent many years working in London. He was a member of the UK Association of Tax Technicians and although not a CPA holds a UK Accounting and Finance certified diploma. In 2000 Mr. Brown relocated to San Jose, CA and moved to the Phoenix area in 2006.
