Position Description - Admissions Counselor

Department: Admissions
Reports to: Admissions Manager

Position Summary

Admissions Counselors qualify, recruit, enroll and depart U.S. and Canadian students for CEA Study Abroad programs. They are responsible for meeting established student graduate goals by proactively contacting and advising prospective students, parents and associated contacts regarding CEA programs and the study abroad planning process. As a member of the Admissions Team, this person will be responsible for calling new students, responding to inquiries via phone and email, and maintaining relationships with students to ensure student graduate targets are met.

Importance/Job Duties - Specific Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed individual recruitment and retention goals as set by the Director of Admissions through initial student contact and regular follow up with existing student accounts. Majority of daily duties involve heavy phone work.
  • Maintain high CEA customer service standard by responding to all inquiries and calling new students within 24 hours.
  • Work with prospective, accepted, and enrolled students to identify program needs, overcome barriers to departure and present applicable CEA program options and their benefits.
  • Responsible for addressing questions/concerns, providing correct program information and explaining CEA policies.
  • Collect new student applications and required materials for program acceptance.
  • Consistently conduct follow-up with all accepted students to ensure a successful start of a CEA program.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of all CEA program offerings, policies, and procedures in order to accurately advise students.
  • Provide CEA with student feedback and represent student interests in company planning and decision-making.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Performance Accountabilities

  • Perform at a consistently high level in increasing student departures through phone contact, timely responses, knowledge sharing, and utilizing other CEA departments in order to achieve goals.
  • Meet and exceed weekly outbound phone and activity quotas.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all requests by students and CEA staff.
  • Meet and exceed student retention goals.
  • Detailed and thorough advising of students, parents and associated contacts.
  • Demonstrate an excellent level of customer service through a positive attitude, responsiveness & attention to customer feedback.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of at least one year of previous inside or outside sales and/or customer service experience entailing one-on-one interaction.
  • Results oriented individual with a proven sales record.
  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Study abroad or international experience preferred.
  • Exceptional positive attitude - high-energy, proactive, friendly, responsible, enthusiastic.
  • Excellent phone presence, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task and work independently.
  • Prior Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computer/database experience preferred.
  • Must be able to adapt to new technology.
  • Stable employment background.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
