Global Education Network
Connecting Students to International Higher Education
CEA Global Education recognizes the many challenges students and universities face when choosing study abroad programs that respond to individual academic needs and personal interests but which also fulfill institutional requirements. This is why CEA designs study abroad programs that offer a variety of destinations, a wide selection of academic institutions, and a large range of curricular offerings.
The CEA Global Education Network comprises three well-defined learning environments — each with distinct advantages and challenges — that together offer college students greater depth and breadth in study abroad programming, curricular offerings, and student support services. The benefit to students is the ability to better identify their own personal path into education abroad in terms meaningful to their unique individual backgrounds and goals. Students also are able to fulfill core major requirements while building global competence and cultural awareness.
CEA’s signature, a purpose-built learning environment which incorporates global competence and discipline-based learning into the core goals of holistic student development. Students may choose to enroll in courses offered at a local partner institution, at the CEA Global Campus, or at both (a combination of courses between a local partner and CEA Global Campus). Global Campus and GC hybrid programs align with US academic calendars, with courses in English or the host country language. GC courses are developed by CEA and delivered by CEA faculty employing an experiential learning pedagogy, which take teaching and experiential learning directly into the host city and culture. Academic oversight and transcripts for these courses are provided by CEA’s School of Record, the University of New Haven. All students benefit from Global Campus programming, resident staff and comprehensive services designed to support student development while abroad.
A new model of international higher learning in CEA’s study abroad programming, the Global Alliance model is based upon an intentional, in-depth and shared collaboration and oversight between CEA and a nationally accredited host institution. This program integrates students directly into a full curriculum of courses where they attend classes taught in English or host country language, alongside national and international students.
CEA strategically chooses its partnerships with local institutions of higher learning based upon the complementary curriculum and culturally integrated programs offered. Through direct enrollment into nationally recognized partner institutions, students encounter courses in host country language or English and diverse international teaching styles. Students experience what college life is like on another campus in a foreign country, while having access to CEA resident staff support and CEA organized cultural activities.

U.S. colleges and universities increasingly require that students confront global issues, integrate international experience into their degree program, and study abroad. But given the current economic climate for U.S. higher education, many institutions simply cannot do this alone, much less at multiple destinations.
