In the last decade, and in terms of student participation and program development in study abroad, CEA Global Education has emerged as a leader in the field. We are known by university administrators and faculty advisors for the academic integrity and popularity of our programs; and by students and parents for the quality and affordability of our service and support. To ensure that we remain abreast of standards of good practice in education abroad, that we continually improve our health and safety protocols, and that our program design and delivery align with recent educational research in learning theory and outcomes assessment, CEA maintains and actively supports its memberships at a number of higher education professional organizations. Through attending and presenting research sessions at annual conferences, by enrolling staff and faculty in professional development and certification workshops, and by publishing in their respective research journals, CEA strives to integrate into all aspects of its study abroad programs best practices that are up-to-date, research-based, and widely recognized.

Forum on Education Abroad

CEA Global Education is a National Charter Member  of the Forum on Education Abroad, the leading professional organization for U.S.-based education abroad. The Forum is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission as a Standards Development Organization (SDO) for the field of education abroad. As a founding member of the Forum, CEA is committed to implementing the Forum Standards of Good Practice, the Forum Compass on ethical decision making in education abroad, and the Forum-AACRAO Guidelines for School of Record Relationships. Through both internal and external assessment processes, and in conjunction with its School of Record—the University of New Haven—CEA continually works to assure that CEA study abroad programs are in substantial conformity with the nine Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.  CEA is also an active participant in Forum advocacy, policy development, and professional development. CEA staff members are regular contributors to annual conference workshops and session presentations. CEA’s Dr. Paige E. Sindt serves on the Forum’s Student and the Standards Working Group and Dr. Scott G. Blair has published in Frontiers, a strategic partner of the Forum on Education Abroad. CEA Global Education supports the Forum’s service to students and professionals in the field of education abroad.

NSEE

The National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) is a national association of educators, businesses and community leaders who advocate for the development and improvement of experiential education programs and who serve as a resource center for the effective use of experience and reflection in teaching and learning at all levels of education. CEA is one of NSEE’s five Sustaining Members and joins with the nation-wide membership of U.S. Colleges and Universities in supporting NSEE’s Eight Principles of Good Practice for All Experiential Learning Activities.  CEA integrates NSEE principles of good practice into the design and delivery of CEA’s study abroad programs and bases its Global Campus active learning pedagogy in experiential learning theory. To ensure that CEA’s model of experiential education aligns with NSEE’s principles of good practice, CEA is progressively enrolling its academic staff into NSEE’s Experiential Education Academy, a six-stage curricular training program of professional workshops that leads to a Certificate of Knowledge. CEA graduates of the EE Academy to date include: Dr. Scott. G. Blair (2011); Dr. Kevin Murphy (2012); and Dr. Paige E. Sindt (2012). Dr. Blair also serves at Chair of NSEE’s Special Interest Group (SIG) on Assessment, Evaluation and Research.
