Accreditations

Internationally Respected and Recognized

Anglo-American University (in Czech, Anglo-americká vysoká škola) was founded in 1990 as a private, nonprofit institution — the first such institution to offer higher education entirely in English, based on American and British traditions and standards, after the fall of communism in the Czech Republic.

Shortly after the Higher Education Law of the Czech Republic changed in 1998 allowing the existence of private higher education within the national education framework, AAU was recognized by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports as a degree-awarding institution of higher education based on the accreditation of its Bachelor’s and Master’s programs by the Accreditation Commission of the Czech Republic. It is, thus, an official part of the national system of higher education in the Czech Republic.

Currently, AAU offers accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs through four distinct schools: Business Administration, Humanities & Social Sciences, International Relations & Diplomacy, and Journalism. A fifth school of Law offers a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree that is validated by the University of Wales (UK).
