Integrating Faculty Development and Study Abroad
CEA Global Education is pleased to build on its international expertise and resources to offer faculty the opportunity to extend their global knowledge. We believe these special services for faculty are a natural extension of CEA Global Education’s mission to provide opportunities for personal and professional growth through high-quality international education and cultural experiences. We know that faculty need to continually expand their own knowledge in order to introduce new material in the classroom and integrate international components with their curriculum, whether at their home institution or while teaching abroad. CEA Global Education’s faculty services thus integrate faculty development and study abroad for the benefit of future students.
Global Issues Seminars
Our academic team has created professional development seminars to provide undergraduate teaching faculty the opportunity to discuss and build courses focused on leading global issues in the 21st Century. These Global Issues Seminars (GIS) offer faculty a ready-made network of U.S. and international colleagues to help develop and/or revise specific course offerings. The GIS theme – whether it be environmental sustainability, transnational crime, global health issues or migration and urban identities – provides a unique framework in which to develop new and authentic materials for your future teaching. Applications for GIS in Summer 2011 will be available in mid-September 2010.

Curriculum Integration
Part of our focus on serving universities and extending the advantages of study abroad includes several steps we take to integrate our curriculum with your institution's standards, needs and goals. In order to foster a heightened level of integration – through aligning of academic coursework and credit for ease in planning, approvals and credit transferability, CEA:
- Convenes working groups comprising faculty from U.S. sending institutions to regularly examine the suite of courses offered at specific Global Campus sites
- Solicits recommendations from those working groups for changes or additions to our curriculum to ensure it is relevant and useful to your students
- Develops course syllabi in collaboration with faculty from sending institutions
Submits course syllabi for review and approval by a University of New Haven – our School of Record - faculty committee
- Offers faculty-led and group program options with curricular oversight from the home institution
We also collaborate with a broad range of diverse local university partners abroad to further enhance an already robust curriculum for your students.
Global Campus Resources
By selecting one of our CEA Global Campuses as your program destination, you gain additional resources such as a dedicated classroom and faculty space. You may explore supplementing your own course with one or more of our existing Global Campus courses, taught by highly qualified CEA international faculty.
- Resource Center
- WiFi throughout campuses
- Faculty who live in and are knowledgeable about the local community
- Dedicated classroom space

Because our Global Campus curriculum is overseen and approved by the University of New Haven, our school of record, university faculty can rely on a consistent high level of academic standards and educational outcomes. Our excellence is carried through CEA-organized cultural activities and excursions, which U.S. faculty may choose to incorporate into custom and faculty-led programs at our Global Campuses.
