Avoid the Price Increase

The deadline has been set for midnight on April 29th to submit an application for Spring 2009 study abroad programs with CEA to avoid the price increase. Prices are being adjusted to compensate in part for the weakening dollar and increased operating costs abroad. European programs will be most affected. Studying abroad affords students an outstanding opportunity to explore the world around them. CEA has a unique option that provide students with the same academic quality, modeled on the theory that the best learning is through experience. Study Abroad Video Contest

CEA is currently accepting video submissions from our spring students to post on YouTube.com. The deadline for student submissions is February 15th. Once we reach that deadline, we will be asking everyone to vote on their favorites. So keep your eye out for what we hope will be some inspiring, creative, and yes, probably some very funny videos from overseas! Go Green with CEA

Green Initiative is integrating environmental sustainability courses into the study abroad provider’s comprehensive list of program offerings, as well as changing the way CEA operates at home and overseas through recycling and conservation initiatives.

"Our goal is to reduce the pressures we place on the environment and to seek out greener products and services that are comparable in quality to the traditional alternatives," says Colleen Miller, CEA’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations. "As our operations span the borders of many countries, it is imperative that we set a precedent in our approach to global education inclusive of responsibility, accountability and environmental sustainability."

CEA Newsletter correction: New Programs in South Africa

CEA will still be launching a new program on January 22nd in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Due to complications with scheduling for our second program in Stellenbosch, South Africa, the program details have not yet been finalized. U.S. Dollar is going down - Prices are Going up

The value of the U.S. Dollar has weakend, which has caused CEA to re-evaluate our Fall pricing schedule. As a result, we are announcing that cost of our Fall 2008 programs will be going up early in January 2008. You can avoid the increase by getting your application in before the end of this year. Act now to get your 2008 fall program at a 2007 price. Make sure that you contact your CEA advisor at 1-800-266-4441 and your academic advisor at your school in advance of submitting your application.

CEA Virtual Catalog is Available

CEA has just released a great way for you help be part of the solution.
Now in addition to the other benefits a MyCEA Account, you can now access a virtual version of CEA's 2008/2009 study abroad catalog online. This not only saves paper, but also the impact shipping these catalogs has on the environment. The new release of this year's catalog works just like a real catalog, with the added benefit of having direct links to our website where you can delve deeper into the program information.

CEA has made a concerted effort to transition our company with the CEA Green Initiative, and this catalog is a big part of it. By providing the virtual catalog, CEA has been able to reduce the number of catalogs we printed this year by 15,000! That is a big savings in itself, but we also made improvements to the traditional catalog to be more green. A complete eco-audit for this year's paper catalog, as well as other efforts CEA is committed to, can be found on the CEA Green Initiative page.

New CEA Podcast Released

We've just released a new podcast interview with our Assistant Academic Dean for our CEA GlobalCampus facilities in Rome and Florence. It answers the question, "Just what is a CEA GlobalCampus" as well as delves into some of the unique course offerings in both cities. The idea behind CEA GlobalCampus courses is to involve the students in active learning. This means that you won't be stuck in a classroom learning from a textbook the entire course. You get the opportunity to meet and engage in discussion with leaders of the respective communities that your course covers, witness art, archetecture, and business practices first hand, and get a sense of how it all relates in a global perspective.
