Academic Focus

This unique Maymester program is designed to give students hands on experience in the fields of Tropical Ecology and Sustainable Development while learning about the Costa Rican culture. Through onsite lectures and study trips students will learn general historical and cultural factors of Costa Rica related to its Natural resources and gain a general comprehension of the concepts related with tropical ecology and marine biology and the management of natural resources. All classes are conducted in English. This program is unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and use Costa Rica as your classroom.

This course is comprised of 45 contact hours and is typically worth 3 credits in the US semester system.

Schedule Summary

Classes meet from Monday through Friday for approximately 5 hours, including visits and field trips. Your final course schedule will be determined at least one month prior to your program start date. Please see the course description for an example list of included visits.

Course Registration

You will be pre-registered for your course prior to your arrival in San Jose.
