Academic Focus

Offered during the J-Term, the Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Program in Prague gives students the opportunity to earn 3-6 credits during January. You may choose to take one or two courses from a specially selected list of offerings from Anglo-American University, a small English-language Liberal Arts College. This short term program gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Czech culture and earn additional credits in areas such as History, Literature and Psychology. You will have the opportunity to work alongside students from different nationalities and a wide range of academic backgrounds in all classes. Intimate class size and caring staff at the Anglo-American Universityprovide the perfect atmosphere for you to study, socialize and discover the Czech Republic. This program is offered for one, 3-week session. During this time, you have the opportunity to choose to take either one or two courses. Most courses meet for a total of 40 contact hours and are generally worth three credits in the US semester system. However, it is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how many credits will be awarded.

Schedule Summary

During the 3-week summer session each course is held three to five times per week for four hour blocks. There are three class periods, one morning, one afternoon and one evening.

Course Registration

As a CEA student, you will be enrolling as a full time student of the Anglo-American University. You will be required to submit your course selections and alternates to the CEA headquarter office prior to departure for the Czech Republic. This will allow you to be pre-approved by the departments and/or lecturers for entry into your chosen courses. You will receive further information regarding registration deadlines after acceptance to the program. To aid in the registration process, it is in your best interest to have courses, including alternates, approved by your academic advisor prior to departure. Any changes to your course selection after registrations have been finalized must be coordinated through the onsite director. Please note that there are no required courses.
