Academic Focus
The Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Program in Prague gives students full access to diverse summer course offerings at the Anglo-American University, a small English-language Liberal Arts College. Depending on your interests, you can choose your courses from a wide variety of subject areas such as Art and Architecture, Finance, History, Literature, Marketing, Political Science, and Psychology. By taking electives in English you can immerse yourself in the Czech culture and earn credits with no previous knowledge of the language. You will have the opportunity to work alongside students from different nationalities and a wide range of academic backgrounds in all classes. Intimate class size and caring staff at the Anglo-American University provide the perfect atmosphere for you to study, socialize and discover the Czech Republic.
This program is offered for one, 6-week session. During this time, you have the opportunity to choose to take either one or two courses. Most courses meet for a total of 45 contact hours and are generally worth three credits in the US semester system. However, it is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how many credits will be awarded.
Schedule Summary
During the 6-week summer session each course is held twice a week, for three and a half hours. Class times can be offered during the morning, afternoon and evening time periods. Students are expected to spend 6 hours per week on background reading and assignments for each course.
Course Registration
As a CEA student, you will be enrolling as a full time student of the Anglo-American University. You will be required to submit your course selections and alternates to the CEA headquarter office prior to departure for the Czech Republic. This will allow you to be pre-approved by the departments and/or lecturers for entry into your chosen courses. You will receive further information regarding registration deadlines after acceptance to the program. To aid in the registration process, it is in your best interest to have courses, including alternates, approved by your academic advisor prior to departure. Any changes to your course selection after registrations have been finalized must be coordinated through the onsite director. Please note that there are no required courses.
