Middlesex University
Middlesex University is one of the largest institutions of higher education in the United Kingdom. A student body of over 22,000 students, of which 5,000 are international, is spread over four different campuses. The summer school, which is recognized both locally and internationally as a leading integrated summer program for university level study in the UK, has a summer enrollment of 1,500. All Middlesex campuses are about 40 minutes away from central London by public transportation and offers diversity and flexibility to students from around the world.
As a semester or academic year student, you will have the opportunity to choose from a carefully selected list of courses in various subject areas and will be integrated with local British students at one or two Middlesex University campuses of your choice. All four of the Middlesex campuses house different schools and have their own focus of academic study. Modern facilities such as laboratories, performance spaces and student meeting areas are available on most campuses.
Summer students will choose from a list of about 140 courses and take classes at the Trent Park campus. The heart of this campus is the eighteenth-century style Trent Park Mansion. Depending on course selection, summer study may also have classes at the nearby Cat Hill campus.
No matter when you choose to study at Middlesex, you will have access to university services such as computer labs, sports facilities, media resources and language labs.

Grading
You will find that you will not have the same system of accountability that you are used to at your home university. English professors assume that you are there to learn and they typically do not take responsibility for your learning. You are responsible for knowing the subject matter and researching topics related to your course. In addition, many English professors will not give feedback about how you are doing. Grades are usually based on a final exam, paper or oral presentation. Quizzes, homework assignments and midterms are rare. Even though homework is not assigned to you, you will still be responsible for knowing the material at the end of the semester.
Middlesex University grades on a scale of 1-20: 1 being the highest score and 20 being the lowest score. The grade conversion is as follows:
