Academic Focus
As a world center for business, London offers students a unique environment in which to study International Business. Through this program at the University of Westminster, students have the opportunity to take courses in business areas relevant to today’s global world; areas such as marketing, human resource management, economics, business communications and social corporate responsibility. You will be studying at the University of Westminster's state of the art Harrow Campus, located approximately 40 minutes outside central London, as well as taking part in experiential classes in central London.
Summer students choose one course from the list of offered courses. Most courses offered are worth 15 University of Westminster credits and are equivalent to four credits within the US semester system. Therefore, students will typically earn 4 semester credits within the US system for the summer session. Remember, it is at the discretion of your academic advisor exactly how many credits will be awarded.
Schedule Summary
Electives offered at the University of Westminster during the summer program generally meet for three hours in the morning, Monday - Thursday, for a total of 12 hours per week. In addition to in-class work, you will be expected to utilize London as an extension of your classroom in experiencing cultural immersion and to develop global perspectives. Although the number of contact hours, in class assessments and homework assignments may be fewer than you are used to, it would be a mistake to think that this means less work is required. In preparation for your classes, you are expected to read extensively, participate fully in discussions and develop your own ideas and arguments.
Registration
You will be required to submit your course selection and alternate courses to the CEA headquarter office prior to departure for London. We strongly encourage you to take care in choosing your course as registration is considered final prior to your arrival. To ensure the registration process runs smoothly, it is in your best interest to have your chosen courses, including alternates, approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
