Academic Focus

The Undergraduate Business program at the Grenoble Ecole de Management is designed for students of all language levels who wish to continue their business studies within an international context. All courses are taught in English, which allow students to participate in the program regardless of their language level. Students will select courses from a variety of business disciplines such as Marketing, Accounting, Economics and Management. More importantly. students will have the opportunity to work alongside students from different nationalities and a wide range of academic backgrounds. As a student at the Grenoble Ecole de Management, you will not only gain a valuable business education, but also be exposed to a unique international experience which will set your resume apart.

Because foreign language skills are an asset in a global business environment, all students will enroll in one language course. Non-French speakers will enroll in a French language course appropriate to their level, from beginner to advanced. Language courses focus on oral expression, vocabulary development, phonetics and listening comprehension. Students will also participate in a series of language laboratory workshops to complement their time within the classroom. Fluent French speakers will choose to study another language, such as Spanish, German or Chinese.

In addition to their language course, students will enroll in five business electives such as Corporate Communications, Sports Marketing, and Technology Management. Course offerings differ between Fall and Spring semesters, which give academic year students a variety of options. Students studying during the Spring Semester also have the option of following a curriculum focused specifically on international business. Students interested in this international track will enroll in five electives, three of which must be international in nature. Popular courses offered in this track have been International Finance and Geopolitics. Please note, students who successfully pass the required classes will earn a Certificate (Semester program) or Diploma (Year program) in Business Studies or International Business Studies.

Most courses meet for a total of 36 contact hours, which are generally worth 3 credits in the US semester system (or 6 ECTS credits). Students will be in class for a total of 216 contact hours which is generally worth 18 credits in the US semester system. Students are also expected to do individual preparation, reading and self-study outside of class. Note, it is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how much credit will be awarded.

Schedule Summary

Business electives and language courses meet Monday through Friday and class times vary. A student's individual schedule will not be finalized until registration takes place onsite.

Course Registration

You will register for courses, including alternates, prior to departure. During the pre-departure process, all students are required to complete a course selection form indicating their course preferences and alternates. Spring semester students must also indicate whether or not they intend to enroll in the international track. Students are encouraged to submit their form as early as possible as popular courses fill up quickly. Based on the course selection form and course availability, a student’s course registration will be finalized. With regard to language classes, students will take a placement exam upon arrival to confirm their language level. If their level is different than indicated on their application, adjustments will be made to the student’s schedule to place them in the right language class. In order to ensure that you receive credit for your courses, it is in your best interest to have courses at several levels approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
