Academic Focus

The Intensive Language program at Stendhal University – Grenoble 3, offered as an intensive month during April or May, is designed for students of all language levels who wish to focus their studies solely on the acquisition and/or improvement of their French language skills in a concentrated amount of time. This program is appropriate for students whose schedule does not allow them to study abroad for an entire semester. All language courses focus on oral and written expression, vocabulary development and listening comprehension. Students will enroll in one language course, which meets for 80 contact hours and is generally worth 5 credits in the US semester system. However, it is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how much credit will be awarded. This intensive program, in conjunction with the experience of living in Grenoble, is sure to increase your French language proficiency.

Schedule Summary

Language classes meet 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday. 3 of these hours will be spent in the classroom and 1 hour will be spent in the language lab. Classes will be held either in the morning or afternoon based on the university’s discretion.

Course Registration

You will begin your session with a placement exam. You will be placed in a language class with other students of your own language level. In order to ensure that you receive credit for the level that you place into, it is in your best interest to have courses at several levels approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
