Academic Focus

The International Business program at the Grenoble Ecole de Management provides coursework that is specifically designed for students focusing on business studies within a global environment. Students interested in the program must have completed at least 2 years and 60 US credits of university level study. All courses in the program are taught in English and students will take coursework in a variety of business disciplines such as International Marketing, Business Ethics, International Finance, Cross-Cultural Management and others. In conjunction with the program’s international business curriculum, students will also develop skills in working within an international context by taking classes and completing projects with students from a wide range of nationalities. As a student at the Grenoble Ecole de Management, you will thus not only gain a valuable business education, but also be exposed to a unique international experience that will set your resume apart.

Students in the International Business Studies program will enroll in four required business courses and choose an additional course from a diverse list of electives such as Sports Marketing, Contemporary International Issues, International Business & Emerging Economies and others. Course offerings for both required and elective courses differ between Fall and Spring semesters, making academic year study an attractive option. Students who successfully complete the required classes will earn a Certificate (Semester program) or Diploma (Year program) in International Business Studies.

Because foreign language skills are an asset in a global business environment, all students will also be required to enroll in one language course as part of the program. Students whose native language is not French will enroll in a French language course appropriate to their level, from beginner to advanced. Students who are fluent speakers of French will instead choose another language, such as Spanish, German or Chinese. Language courses focus on oral expression, vocabulary development, phonetics and listening comprehension. Students will also participate in a series of language laboratory workshops to complement their time within the classroom.

Courses generally meet for 36 contact hours, which is typically worth 3 credits in the US semester system (or 6 ECTS credits). Students who complete the program will be in class for a total of 198 contact hours which is generally worth 15 credits in the US semester system. Note, it is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how much credit will be awarded.

Schedule Summary

Business and language courses meet Monday through Friday and class times vary. A student’s individual schedule will not be finalized until registration takes place onsite.

Course Registration

Prior to departure you will be required to complete a course selection form, indicating your elective course preference and alternate course selection. You will be automatically enrolled for all other business courses.. Students are encouraged to submit their form as early as possible as popular courses fill up quickly. Based on the course selection form and course availability, a student’s course registration will be finalized. With regard to language classes, students will take a placement exam before arrival to confirm their language level. If the student’s level is different than indicated on their application, adjustments will be made to the student’s schedule to place them in the appropriate language class. In order to ensure that you receive credit for your courses, it is in your best interest to have courses at several levels approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
