The American University of Paris
Among the oldest American institutions of higher learning in Europe, the mission of the American University of Paris (AUP) is to educate generations of academic, social, political, intellectual and business citizens of the world and to enhance the advancement of scholarship in the arts and sciences in an international, multicultural and plural environment. Founded in 1962, AUP brings students the unique advantage of an American interdisciplinary liberal arts education, enriched by its European location. Approximately 100 different nationalities are represented in the student body of 950, making AUP a truly international school.
The University is centrally located near the Eiffel Tower. Like many urban American and European universities, the campus is a composite of its buildings and the surrounding neighborhood.
AUP offers a variety of services to its full-time and visiting student population including: library, computer labs, academic resource center (ARC), student services office, campus bookstore, career development office, cultural programs office, student clubs and organizations, student café, and discounted membership to a local gym.
Classroom Information
- CEA students integrate into regularly offered semester courses, taught by AUP faculty.
- The language of instruction is English.
- Periodic exams, homework assignments and final exams will be administered.
- Attendance in classes is mandatory. Class participation is often a component of the final grade.
- Class sizes range between 10 and 25 students allowing personalized attention.
Grading
The grading system at the American University of Paris is based on the 4.0 system. Please note that this grading scale is recommended, but final credit and grade evaluation is ultimately determined by your home university.
