Academic Focus

The Engineering program at SKEMA-EAI provides the opportunity for students to study engineering, in English, while on the French Riviera. Uniquely placed in Sophia Antipolis, a purpose built Research and Technology Park, CERAM – EAI is surrounded by international engineering companies putting to use the skills you will learn while there. You may choose engineering courses from the following engineering disciplines:

• Aerospace Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering

At the same time, you can supplement your studies with courses in other areas of math, science and technology, as well as general education courses such as humanities and psychology. While not required, students are encouraged to study French language, offered at all levels, as well as French culture and society.

All students will choose 2 engineering courses from the various engineering disciplines offered. You will also choose 2 or 3 additional electives according to your interests and needs. If you wish, you can also take advantage of the surrounding area by adding a 1 credit sports courses such as basketball, sailing or kayaking. These intramural sports courses are a great way to meet French and other international students.

Most courses meet for 45 contact hours and are generally worth 3 credits in the US semester system. Some courses do meet for 60 contact hours and are worth 4 credits in the US semester system. Typically, students earn between 12 and 16 credits per semester for this program. It is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how much credit will be awarded. You may choose to add an additional 3 credit course for a supplemental fee. Please contact CEA for details.

Special Note: Spring semester students also have the unique opportunity to apply for an internship at the Cannes Film Festival once the semester is underway. This ultimate resume-building internship at one of the largest media events in the world is held for 12 days during the middle of May. While the internship is not for credit and is not associated with SKEMA-EAI, it may be a great complement to one’s studies in France. A film or communications background is preferred, but students from other disciplines will be considered. Applications will be accepted once students are onsite. Please note, internship placements are highly competitive.

Schedule Summary

Courses meet Monday through Friday and class times vary. A student’s individual schedule will not be determined until registration is finalized onsite.

Course Registration

You will be asked to complete your course selection, including alternate selections, prior to your departure for France. You must meet all pre-requisites required by your chosen courses. Final course registration will take place onsite. With regard to language classes, students will take a placement exam upon arrival to confirm their language level. You will be placed in a language class with other students of your own language level. In order to ensure that you receive credit for your courses, it is in your best interest to have your courses, as well as alternates, approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
