Academic Focus

This program is designed for students who wish to focus their studies on Business and Economics, for which Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) is best known throughout Central Europe. Not only will courses be offered in Business, Economics, Finance and Management, but also in a wide variety of subject areas such as History, Law, Liberal Arts, Political Science and Sociology. The majority of the courses offered focus on Hungary itself, and Hungary and Central Europe within a larger global context. By taking electives in English you can immerse yourself in the Hungarian culture and earn credits with no previous knowledge of the language. In addition to the elective courses offered, you can choose to develop your language skills with basic courses in Hungarian language acquisition.

A distinctive aspect of this program is the ability to participate in CEA academic activities that compliment your classroom instruction such as business lectures, informal sessions and/or workshops. Visits to local companies and the Budapest chamber of commerce may also be included.

You may choose to take either four or five electives per semester. While not required, you are strongly encouraged to take one Hungarian language course per semester. Aside from Hungarian language, all courses meet for a total of 45 contact hours and are generally worth three credits in the US semester system. Hungarian language courses also meet for 45 contact hours, but are generally work 1.5 credits. In all, you can earn between 15 and 16.5 credits per semester session. However, it is up to the discretion of your academic advisor how much credit will be awarded.

Schedule Summary

Most courses meet Monday through Friday for two 75 minute sessions per week. Actual class times vary and may be held in either the morning or late afternoon.
