Study in Cork, Ireland

Cork is the primary port city of County Cork, the largest and most geographically varied county in Ireland. CEA participants can explore County Cork’s picturesque bays, green farmlands and sandy beaches, all of which are uniquely Irish and unparalleled in beauty. Other nearby attractions include Kinsale, the gourmet capital of Ireland, Blarney Castle and the historic port of Cobh, which witnessed the emigration of hundreds of thousands of Irish embarking for America.

CEA participants can experience an array of cultural events hosted in Cork every year. Cork’s events fill the city with international guests and an atmosphere of excitement and energy. Two of the most popular are Cork’s annual Guinness Jazz Festival, a three-day non-stop celebration held each October, and the Cork International Choral Festival held each May.

Cork’s accessible location makes it an ideal center for Irish and European travel for CEA participants. Located on the River Lee, Cork is a frequent stop for buses and trains heading to all of Ireland and boasts regular ferry routes to both the United Kingdom and France. Cork International Airport, a mere five minutes from the city center, provides flights to popular destinations throughout Europe. The cultural and social attractions of the city coupled with the ease of travel within Ireland and abroad make Cork an ideal place to study and live.
