Grayson Splane

Campus Director - Italy

As the Campus Director for Italy, Grayson Splane is responsible for ensuring that all CEA standards are maintained for all cities within Italy. Grayson oversees all educational programs - including short to long-term program planning, products and services in addition to maintaining the financial plan for Italy. She also manages student services, host institution relations, local vendor relations, program improvements, and staff.

A native of Mississippi, Grayson has 15 years of experience both working and studying in Italy. Before joining CEA, Grayson worked in publishing as an Assistant Photography Editor and Editor for a southern literary magazine, The Oxford American. Upon her return to Italy she spent time as an editor and translator in the film industry. Since joining CEA, she has been the Florence program director, working very closely with American students when she started the Florence program back in 2001. In 2004, Grayson also launched and oversaw the opening of the Rome program. She’s overseen these programs’ growth into a successful network of campuses between Rome and Florence. She has managed operations in Italy for CEA for the past 7 years and has also been the managing lead in overseeing the creation of the Florence and Rome GlobalCampuses.

In 1999 Grayson completed an M.A. in Italian Language and Literature at Middlebury College, specializing in the translation of contemporary Italian poetry. As part of her undergraduate studies, she attended Syracuse University in Florence semester abroad, then completed her B.A. in English at The University of the South. In addition, she has completed courses in journalism and contemporary literature at the University of Florence, and since 1999 has made Florence her permanent home.
