Academic Focus

The Integrated Studies Program at the Panamerican University is designed to give students at an advanced level of Spanish the opportunity to participate in a full immersion experience at a Mexican University while earning credit towards their major. Coursework is available in the following disciplines and specializations: Business - Finance, International Business, Accounting, Management, Marketing, and Industrial/Labor Relations; Engineering - Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Innovation & Design and Civil Engineering; Communications and Pedagogy. The majority of coursework in the Integrated Studies program is conducted entirely in Spanish. However, there is also a limited selection of courses available in English. Courses generally meet for 60 contact hours and are worth 4 credits. Students will take between three and five electives, three of which must be in Spanish, and will generally earn between 12 and 20 credits.

Students in the Integrated Studies Program will be required to take a placement test onsite to ensure that they have the necessary proficiency in Spanish to complete coursework in the language. An online placement test will also be available for students to assist in making a decision of whether or not to apply to the program.

Schedule Summary

Integrated courses generally meet for 60 contact hours and are usually comprised of a mixture of lectures, seminars and tutorials. Most classes meet twice a week for a total of 4 hours. Actual class meeting times vary across departments and subject areas and can be in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Course Registration

All students are required to complete a course selection form prior to departure. The course selection form must be returned to the CEA Tempe office with your confirmation deposit, or no later than the application closure date for your program. Final course registration and your course schedule will be finalized and confirmed onsite.
