Study in Krakow, Poland

Krakow is a wonderful and magical city, with a treasure trove of culture and history to see and experience.

Gothic church spires and medieval castles dominate Krakow’s skyline, and the vibrant Rynek Glowny, or Main Market Square, is bustling with activity both day and night. The largest square in medieval Europe, Rynek Glowny, is still very much the heart of the city, with stunning architecture such as St. Mary’s Church and Cloth Hall. With a multitude of street musicians to entertain you, the area resounds with music of every kind. After dark, the Old Town is transformed into a fairytale setting, by candlelit courtyards and café windows ablaze with flickering flames.

The Planty, a 2.5 mile circular park around Old Town, is a scenic and tranquil area of respite. The medieval city walls once stood here, but today the area is filled in with trees, benches, and a walking path. At the far end of Old Town Krakow, stands Wawel Castle, where Polish kings were crowned and buried for more than five centuries.

From the 13th century to the Holocaust, Krakow was the main center of Jewish settlement in Europe. Today the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz is a thriving center of the arts, where restored buildings and cellars house lively cafes, upscale hotels, classy restaurants, antique stores, bookshops and galleries. As you stroll around Kazimierz, you will feel as though you have been transported far away to another time and place!

Beyond Krakow there is a whole world of day trips awaiting the intrepid traveler. Wieliczka Salt Mine is like nothing you have seen before, the beauty of Zakopane and the Tatra National park will enchant you and the tragic history of the holocaust will unfold at Auschwitz- Birkenau, the former Nazi concentration camp.
