CEA offers the housing options listed below in Alicante. Every attempt will be made to match each student's preferences with our housing options; however, housing preferences cannot be guaranteed as roommate and housing assignments are based upon availability, date of confirmation, and other factors. CEA students also have the opportunity to choose to live in a shared apartment. Students will be assigned an individual room in an apartment shared with other CEA students studying at the University of Alicante. The majority of the apartments are located in the city center. All of the apartments are close to buses that regularly run to and from the university. No meals or laundry service are included with this housing option, though students will have access to a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine. Students are responsible for meals and phone usage, so additional funds should be allocated for these expenses. Apartments do not have phones for incoming or outgoing calls.
Homestay - Additional Fee
This upgraded housing option offers you the opportunity to live with a Spanish family and experience true daily life on the Mediterranean. If you are outgoing, independent and not afraid to take the language plunge, then living in a homestay could be a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself into the Spanish culture and language. The majority of homestays are located in the city center and are close to buses that regularly run to and from the university. Each homestay has been carefully chosen to ensure the best possible living arrangements for each student. Homestays may consist of a single señora (with or without children) or a traditional two-parent household. In most cases, one student is housed with each family and will have a single room. Students are provided three meals per day and laundry service once a week. All families are welcoming and generous with their home, but participants should remember that they are guests and will be expected to adapt to the traditions and rules of their host family.
Residence Hall - Additional Fee*
*Available starting Fall 2011
Living in a Residence Hall is a fantastic way to meet other students; including Spaniards, other internationals and even those from the U.S. Built in 2006, La Villa offers modern facilities close to the University of Alicante. Students choosing this option will have a single bedroom and bathroom in a shared suite with one other student. The shared suite includes a small kitchenette equipped with a fridge, microwave, and sink. A cafeteria is located on-site making full board included. Other inclusions are internet connection, telephone for receiving calls, air conditioning/heating, on-site maintenance, use of common spaces like TV room, study rooms, computer lab, on-site laundry facilities, swimming pool, track, basketball courts & basic work-out facilities, and weekly cleaning service. La Villa offers cultural and recreational activities to residents as well as on-site security. This is a smoke-free facility. La Villa and University of Alicante are both connected to the city center of Alicante via 20 minute bus ride and soon to be connected via a new Tram line, which will cut the commute time in half. However, shopping and leisure activities are located nearby.

Independent Living
CEA highly recommends that students live in the housing provided. Requests for permission to arrange independent housing must be made on the online housing or paper application form as determined by your program no later than the application closure date. For academic year students, requests for permission to arrange independent living arrangements for the second semester must be made no later than the second semester's application closure date. Students whose requests are approved will receive a rebate for housing. CEA resident directors will not provide assistance with independent housing and will not speak or act on behalf of any student who chooses to pursue such arrangements. Rebates are not granted for students who move out of their CEA housing or choose to pursue independent living arrangements after the application closure date.
