Host Institution Title: Nivel Superior CEA Partner Institution: University of Barcelona Location: Barcelona, SpainPrimary Subject Area: Spanish Language & Literature Level(s): 400 Instruction in: Spanish Recommended Semester Credits: 4 Contact Hours: 60 Description This course will expand on the material covered in Spanish 301 as well as introduce new skills to improve students' written and oral proficiency in the Spanish language. The functions of syntax, vocabulary and semantics will be the main objectives of this course. The class will cover verbs of double construction and debate strategies. Through an in-depth exploration of pronouns and impersonal expressions, students will study verbal communication. Students will also study elements of textual construction, semantics and juxtapositions through essay-writing exercises. Students will also concentrate on grammar refinement, lending special attention to using adverbial clauses and conditional hypothesizing. Grammatical elements such as ser/estar and other copulative verbs will also be points of analysis.
