Here's what Enric has to say about Barcelona

Being from the Barcelona area and having spent many years abroad has given me the opportunity to look and examine my own city through different eyes. The Barcelona that I see now differs from the city where I spent my youth. The Olympic games in 1992 were the ideal showcase for Barcelona and it served as a platform to transform Barcelona into an international meeting point.

The Barcelona where I spent my youth had very charming neighborhoods, where you could wander around for hours in search of nothing and discover much in return. Each time you ventured out, you discovered something new, something captivating, something that made you come back over and over again. My “old Barcelona” developed rich, historical touch points, from the Roman ruins to the Gothic Quarter. Every inch of the city offered something truly unique. My “old Barcelona” is a cultural treasure with countless popular culture exhibitions on the streets and a wide variety of museums to visit. After all, this city is an artistic landmark known for such world-class artists as Gaudí, Dalí and Picasso. My “old Barcelona” also is known for its little restaurants and cafeterias in every corner, where they would always welcome their visitors with their best tapas at any time of the day.

To my surprise upon my return to the city, “my old Barcelona” is not only more current than ever, but it also offers new trends to the visitors that come from all over the globe. I am sure most of its visitors come to this Mediterranean city attracted by my old version of Barcelona, but I am also certain that they leave captivated by a city that has embraced modernity and become a world-wide reference for its dynamism, capacity of transformation, and vibrant surroundings. Barcelona recently was designated the capital city of the Mediterranean. Year after year, this city is nominated to hold international events, which keeps it as a top destination worldwide.

I hope to have the opportunity, together with the rest of the Barcelona CEA staff, to help you make your experience abroad an opportunity to enjoy this city to the fullest, so you can someday tell others about your own Barcelona.

Barcelona CEA onsite staff make sure that students get an insight of Barcelona and its culture through a very comprehensive agenda of activities that are very attractive to young people, while remaining educational and fun.
