Academic Focus
The Intensive Spanish Language program at the University of Granada is designed for students of all language levels who are dedicated to acquiring and improving their language skills. Your language course will focus on oral comprehension and expression, listening comprehension and grammar components appropriate to your language level. Your language courses, combined with your immersion experience in Granada, will help you improve your Spanish, as well as explore the Spanish culture.
Language courses meet for a total of 80 contact hours, which is generally worth 5 credits in the US semester system. *Note: Students who need additional contact hours may contact CEA to make arrangements on a case by case basis for an additional fee.
Schedule Summary
In September and May, Spanish language courses are held for four hours a day, either in the morning or the afternoon, Monday through Friday. In January, Spanish language classes will meet for five hours per day, Monday though Friday. Your schedule will be determined onsite.
Course Registration
You will begin your session with a placement exam. You will then be placed in classes with other students of your own language level. The Spanish Language Studies program offers courses at five different language levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced, superior, and mastery. There are two sections (A/B) offered within each level. In order to ensure that you receive credit for the level that you place into, it is in your best interest to have courses at several levels approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
