Academic Focus
This program allows students of all language levels to focus on language acquisition while taking electives taught in English and Spanish in a variety of subject areas, including art history, cultural studies, business, biology and political science. This program is also unique because it is offered jointly by the CEA GlobalCampus in Seville and Pablo de Olavide University. By participating in this program, you will enjoy the unique advantage of studying at two institutions in Seville. Because of the diverse course offerings and instruction in both Spanish and English, you can earn credits toward your major and/or additional graduation requirements.
All students will take a language course appropriate to their level at the CEA GlobalCampus. Students will then choose three to four elective courses: 2 from the CEA GlobalCampus course list and 1 to 2 from the Pablo de Olavide University course list. The courses at the CEA GlobalCampus focus on art, history, music, language and popular culture. The courses at Pablo de Olavide focus on a variety of subjects including political science, business and biology. Both institutions offer courses in English and Spanish which allow students to design the academic program that best fit their needs. By combining courses from both institutions, students will gain a thorough education in Spanish language and culture as well as the liberal arts and sciences.
All courses meet for a total of 45 contact hours each semester. Students generally receive 3 semester credits per course, for a total of 12 - 15 credits per semester.
Schedule Summary
All semester classes meet either two or three times per week, for a total of 3 hours per week. Classes may be held on any day of the week and are offered at various times throughout the day.
Course Registration
Students must register for courses prior to departure for Seville. A course selection form will be sent to you upon acceptance to the program and should be turned in with your confirmation deposit, or no later than the application closure date for your program. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis so it is in your best interest to submit your course selection form as soon as possible.
Course registrations are considered final when submitted to CEA. The only adjustment that will be made to course registrations are for language courses and electives taught in Spanish. You will be given a language placement exam on the first day of class. If you do not test into the level anticipated, your registration for language courses and Spanish electives will be adjusted. To aid in the registration process, it is in your best interest to have courses, including alternates, approved by your academic advisor prior to departure.
