Academic Focus
The Humanities & Spanish Language program at the CEA Global Campus in Seville is designed for students of all language levels who wish to explore the history and culture of Spain through electives offered in both English and Spanish. Regardless of language of instruction or subject area, all courses offered at the CEA Global Campus are designed to help students gain insight into the history and culture of Spain in an interactive setting. Both in and out of class, students are encouraged to explore the city and make connections between their first hand observations and the subjects they are studying.
Semester students will take one Spanish language course appropriate to their level that focuses on oral comprehension and expression, listening comprehension and grammar components. Students at an upper-advanced level or bilingual level of Spanish have the option to take a Spanish elective in place of the Spanish language course. Students will then enroll in three or four elective courses. Students can take electives in English or Spanish depending on their interest and language level. The courses at the CEA Global Campus in Seville focus on art, history, photography, business, communication, language and popular culture. In addition, several courses highlight the uniqueness of Southern Spain, known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant history. Because of the diverse course offerings and instruction in both Spanish and English, students can earn credits toward their major and/or additional graduation requirements.
All language courses and electives meet for a total of 45 contact hours and are generally worth 3 credits in the US semester system. If students enroll in 5 classes, they can earn up to 15 credits in the US semester system. However, it is up to the student’s home academic advisor to determine how much credit will be awarded.
