Academic Focus
This program allows students of all language levels to focus on language acquisition while taking electives taught in English or Spanish in a variety of subject areas, including art history, cultural studies, business, biology and political science. This program, offered jointly by CEA Global Campus and the Pablo de Olavide University, is designed so that each institution’s courses complement one another. By participating in this program, you benefit from the unique qualities and distinct learning environments of each school. Because of the diverse course offerings and instruction in both Spanish and English, you can earn credits toward your major and/or additional graduation requirements.
Students will take a language course appropriate to their level at the CEA Global Campus. Students at an upper-advanced level or bilingual level of Spanish may take a Spanish elective in place of the Spanish language course. Students will then choose three or four elective courses: 2 to 3 from the CEA Global Campus course list and 1 or 2 from the Pablo de Olavide University course list. Courses at the CEA Global Campus focus on art, history, photography, business, communication, language and culture. Courses at Pablo de Olavide focus on a variety of subjects including political science, business and biology. Both institutions offer courses in English and Spanish, which allows students to design the academic program that best fits their needs. By combining courses from both institutions, students will gain a thorough education in Spanish language and culture as well as the liberal arts and sciences.
All language courses and electives meet for a total of 45 contact hours and are generally worth 3 credits in the US semester system. If students enroll in 5 classes, they can earn up to 15 credits in the US semester system. However, it is up to the student’s home academic advisor to determine how much credit will be awarded.

- Spanish language and intercultural communication skills.
Schedule Summary
Semester classes at the Global Campus and UPO meet twice a week for a total of 3 contact hours. Classes are typically held Monday through Thursday although study trips and other required fieldwork may occur on Fridays. Classes are offered at various times throughout the day. Global Campus class timetables will be released approximately three months before the program closure date, and your Global Campus course schedule will be posted to your MyCEAAccount around two weeks before the program start date.
Course Registration
Students must register for courses prior to departure for Seville. A course preference form will be posted to your MyCEA Account when course timetables are released. This form should be completed upon submission of your program confirmation but no later than the program closure date. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis so it is in your best interest to submit your course preference form as soon as possible.
Course preferences are considered final when submitted to CEA. You will take an online language placement exam prior to the program closure date and will receive a preliminary language level assignment. However, your final language level may be adjusted onsite. To aid in the registration process, it is in your best interest to have courses, including alternates, approved by your academic advisor prior to submitting your course preference form.
