Choose to live in one of the following housing options:
Although every attempt will be made to match each student's preferences with our housing options, roommate and housing assignments are based upon availability and other factors. Therefore, your housing preferences cannot be guaranteed. We encourage you to apply early as it will assist us in organizing your housing arrangements.
Homestays
CEA students may choose to be housed in a Spanish homestay located near the city center. Each homestay has been carefully chosen to ensure the best possible living arrangements for each student. Homestays may consist of a single señora (with or without children) or a traditional two-parent household. This housing option allows students to continue practicing Spanish outside of the classroom while learning about Spanish culture. In most cases, two or three students are housed with each family. All CEA families are welcoming and generous with their home, but participants should remember that they are guests and will be expected to adapt to the traditions and rules of their host family. This option is perfect for students who are looking to experience family life in Seville and who are willing to adapt to the structure and values of the host culture and the family.
Shared Apartments
CEA students in Seville can choose to live in an apartment located throughout the city in quiet, safe neighborhoods near the city center. Apartments are 15-30 minutes away from the University of Seville and 45-55 minutes away from Pablo de Olavide University. By living in an apartment, students are able to enjoy their independence and the convenience of living near the city center. Apartments vary in size, from one to four bedrooms and students usually share a bedroom with another CEA participant. As students will be responsible for preparing their own meals, CEA will arrange for a box of groceries to be delivered to each apartment at the beginning of each month. Groceries will consist of common food items such as juice, milk, bread, cereal, pasta, rice, butter, lunch meats and snacks. While this is not intended to fulfill a student's grocery needs for the entire month, it will provide the basics for preparing breakfast, snacks and simple meals in order to feel comfortable in their new living environment. This option is perfect for students who are looking for independence and at the same time are willing to accept more responsibilities regarding apartment care and conservation.
Casas Universitarias
A casa universitaria is an apartment or flat owned by an individual that may, or may not, live onsite and rents the rooms to students. They are located near the city center and the Guadalquivir river, 15-30 minutes away from the University of Seville and 45-55 minutes away from Pablo de Olavide University. The casa universitaria offers students the benefits of an apartment, but also provides the comforts of a homestay such as meals, laundry, and cleaning. You will be provided three meals per day, seven days a week. Laundry options may vary depending on the particular casa universitaria. Please note, this housing option is limited and interested students are encouraged to apply several months in advance. This option is perfect for students who are looking to share their experience in Seville with other young adults from CEA or Spain. Casa universitaria allow each participant to feel comfortable living in a setting different than in a homestay or apartment.

Independent Living
CEA highly recommends that students live in the housing provided. Requests for permission to arrange independent housing must be made on the online housing or paper application form as determined by your program no later than the application closure date. For academic year students, requests for permission to arrange independent living arrangements for the second semester must be made no later than the second semester's application closure date. Students whose requests are approved will receive a rebate for housing. CEA resident directors will not provide assistance with independent housing and will not speak or act on behalf of any student who chooses to pursue such arrangements. Rebates are not granted for students who move out of their CEA housing or choose to pursue independent living arrangements after the application closure date.
